Analog Devices Tools Update
VisualDSP++ 3.5 for Blackfin and 21xx Families - Out Now!
VisualDSP++ release 3.5 introduces the following new features that bring mor
e robust visualization capabilities to the designer, enabling faster and mor
e efficient software development:
Profile Guided Optimization (PGO) - enables large gains to be realized in th
e run-time performance and code density of a program automatically, without
any additional effort by the user. PGO takes advantage of the innate compile
d simulation technology in VisualDSP++ and uses an automatic, iterative comp
ilation approach.
Memory Profiler - allows programmers to visually profile all code in memory,
enabling them to understand which parts of their application are most frequ
ently accessed. This allows developers more easily optimize their code for p
erformance and memory access.
Integrated Source Code Control - eases the development process for large des
ign teams. A Source Code Control (SCC) plug-in enables users to easily conne
ct to SCC applications that are on their machines through the Microsoft Comm
on Source Code Control (MCSCC) interface that is widely supported by leading
SCC vendors.
Other new features include Automation Aware Scripting Engine that supports a
ny scripting language based on Microsoft's API, Secure Install that allows V
isualDSP++ release 3.5 to be installed while protecting and maintaining exis
ting older versions on the system, Enhanced Background Telemetry Channel (BT
C) Support that now includes sophisticated visualization windows, and Multi-
Project Support that allows developers to view, link and update multiple pro
jects simultaneously.
Besides the new features listed above, VisualDSP++ release 3.5 also introduc
es a new licensing scheme for EZ-KIT Lite users. This licensing scheme requi
res those users to validate their licenses for the evaluation version of Vis
ualDSP++ in the same manner that users of the full version of VisualDSP++ mu
st do today.
