The Reduced Gigabit Media Independent Interface (RGMII) is an alternative to the Gigabit Media Independent Interface (GMII). In this application note, an RGMII adaptation module is used to reduce the number of pins required to connect the Gigabit Ethernet MAC to a Gigabit PHY from 24 to 12. This product is not recommended for new designs.
