QPHY-SATA-TSG-RSG is an automated test package for Serial ATA compliance testing. It provides connection diagrams to ensure the proper setup for the required measurements, automates the oscilloscope for performing these measurements, and provides a comprehensive report of results including screenshots.
By utilizing the PeRT3, QPHYSATA-TSG-RSG can perform all of the PHY, TSG, OOB and RSG tests automatically. Using a single piece of equipment, the PeRT3 can replace the Arbitrary Waveform Generator and the Frame Error Rate tester that are typically used for SATA compliance testing. This reduces the investment and makes the test setup much simpler.
The LeCroy SDA 8 Zi/Zi-A Series of oscilloscopes with the Eye Doctor II analysis package are the perfect instruments for performing Serial ATA compliance measurements and more importantly for debugging compliance failures allowing the engineers to quickly find the root cause of serial data problems.
SDA II allows the user to quickly create eye diagrams utilizing the full record length of the oscilloscope and perform jitter analysis accurately using both the spectral and NQ-Scale methods of jitter decomposition. This is critically important for properly distinguishing between random and deterministic jitter in systems where there could be crosstalk present.
Additionally, Eye Doctor II provides the channel emulation and de-embedding tools that engineers need for next generation serial data standards.
QPHY-SATA-TSG-RSG uses all of these oscilloscope features to perform the compliance tests as described by the SATA Unified Test Document.
The LeCroy QPHY-SATA-TSG-RSG automated test solution is the only solution that fully integrates transmitter and receiver testing into one test suite.
Using the LeCroy Protocol-enabled Receiver and Transmitter Tolerance Tester (PeRT3), QPHY-SATA-TSG-RSG has the ability to perform all of the 1.5 Gb/s, 3.0 Gb/s and 6.0 Gb/s SATA receiver tests as described by the SATA Unified Test Document. Also, the PeRT3 can connect to the device under test, set the device to output the proper test pattern or enter loopback mode and output the proper test pattern. Then QPHY-SATA-TSG-RSG uses the SDA 813Zi/Zi-A oscilloscope to perform all of the SATA transmitter measurements as described by the Unified Test Document. All of this can be done simply with the push of a button.
Using the TF-SATA-C, the transmitter output of the product under test can be connected between either the PeRT3 input or the oscilloscope input. Additionally, the transmitter output of the PeRT3 can be connected between either the product under test or the oscilloscope which is used for automatic calibration of the jitter output.
The ISI channel for 1.5 Gb/s, 3.0 Gb/s or 6.0 Gb/s, which is required for receiver testing, can be put in the path from the PeRT3 to the product under test.
Additionally, since all of these tests are run from QPHY-SATA-TSG-RSG, the results of the transmitter test as well as the receiver results can be created in one comprehensive report.
Finally, everything required for SATA testing can be ordered with LeCroy's SATA Bundles.
